ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

About Lisa

Lisa Riannson is an award-winning artist who is known for her realistic watercolors. Her work has been exhibited in many national juried exhibitions in Colorado and New York. In 2020 she gave the community a look into her watercolor painting processes as a demonstrating artist at the Denver Art Museum.

Lisa is also a sought-after instructor. She has taught watercolor and acrylics classes at Park Hill Art Club and Colorado Free University, as well as hosted classes out of her own studio, including private lessons.

Artist Statement

I’m inspired by strong contrast, bursts of color, and fine details. I like to paint what I’m drawn to in the moment, whether it’s the subject matter or a shadow or a particular color. I’m interested in painting realistic subjects in an emotional and abstract way.

As a teacher, I’m passionate about demystifying the unpredictability of watercolor and helping students gain the skills and confidence to paint whatever they desire.
